How to create a messy bun that looks glamorous.
The messy bun is usually a hairdo that women come up with when they are in a hurry. There seems to be nothing "glammy" about being in a rush to work. However, we will show you how to make a messy bun in minutes and still look like you are about to kill it on the runway!
To create the perfect messy bun, start with putting your hair in a secure ponytail. Twist your hair from the base to the tip and wrap it around the base of your ponytail in a spiral. You can use bobby pins to secure the bun or you can try tucking the tip under the hair tie. Do you want a messier look? Pluck out some hairs by running your fingers through the front of your hair or pull some strands out to frame your face. But we can still get a bit more sophisticated.
The messy bun can be made with just your fingers and a rubber band. But you can beef it up a little by using the appropriate styling products. For example, if you are planning to make the bun for a wedding or another formal event, find some accessories to add.
Gather a soft brush, a wide-tooth comb, and an elastic ponytail holder. Comb your hair all the way down, grab the ponytail and twirl it, wrap it around and secure it with your ponytail holder. A messy bun works best if it is two days after initial washing.
A More Sophisticated look
A light-weight mousse will make your hair more supple and still appear soft and natural. Look for a mousse that includes a volumizing agent. Next, use a hairspray that will help your bun stay in place.
